2015

The Origins of EqualReach.

In the winter of 2015-2016, EqualReach's founder, Giselle, traveled Europe’s refugee route from Greece to Germany, documenting the realities of forced displacement as millions fled Syria’s war. She met skilled, educated people trapped by invisible barriers, unable to rebuild their lives due to a lack of economic opportunities.

Amidst the crisis, she also saw the power of technology and business to create solutions, working with innovators behind tools like the Love Europe app. That experience ignited a mission. Giselle spent years advocating for refugees and launching initiatives like Not Forgotten, but awareness wasn’t enough. The real question was: How could the private sector be part of the solution? That question would define our next chapter.

Unveiling the Rise of Digital Work for Displaced Communities.

As local job opportunities remained limited for forcibly displaced individuals, Giselle explored how NGOs, humanitarian organizations, and upskilling programs were unlocking opportunities in the digital economy.

Recognizing both the emerging potential and the invisible barriers to access, she was one of the first to research this shift, starting with microwork and expanding into higher-skilled roles. Over the next five years, Giselle collaborated with organizations worldwide, advising on best practices and driving forward initiatives that paved the way for more inclusive, digital employment opportunities.

EqualReach: The Future of Inclusive Hiring.

EqualReach’s research on digital work for displaced people went beyond academia, shaping real-world solutions in the private sector. From 2020 to 2023 this reserach was piloted to establish a Fortune 5 company’s first impact sourcing solution, connecting refugee talent with meaningful digital work.

Those years proved the power of inclusive hiring and revealed the need for an intermediary to bridge businesses and displaced professionals. Driven by this insight, Giselle left the corporate world to transform outsourcing for social good. EqualReach quickly gained recognition, securing its first clients through major competitions, including the Social Shifters x Amazon Award and the Santander X UK Startup Awards.

EqualReach's first year wasn't just about opening doors; it was about building them. It was about laying a foundation of unwavering trust, forging partnerships that amplify impact, and committing to excellence in every project, every connection, every opportunity created. We forged strong partnerships, refined our approach, and proved that social impact and business excellence go hand in hand.

In our first year, EqualReach transformed vision into reality by creating 106 job opportunities for displaced and local talent across 10 countries, delivering meaningful work for businesses in the UK, US, and EU. But this is just the beginning. From refining our initial process MVP to shaping our product MVP, every lesson learned has propelled us forward. Now, we are building the EqualReach platform not just to scale but to redefine what’s possible in the future of work.

EqualReach is an impact-driven freelancing marketplace that connects businesses with highly skilled tech teams around the world. Our mission is to drive meaningful value for businesses while creating opportunities for qualified refugee and local talent who have the skill specialties you need.

How do I join?

Joining EqualReach is simple. Sign up through our website here in less than 60 seconds. Once registered, submit your first project request and you'll get 1-3 custom proposals from teams in our network. There's no upfront cost. You only pay when you select a team and proposal you love. Then your project begins!

What services are offered?

Our marketplace connects you to a growing list of teams specializing in web development, app design, IT support, graphic design, marketing, automation, AI, and more. From a one-off small project to ongoing retainer support, our teams are equipped to handle projects of all sizes and complexities.

If we don't have a team with the skills required for your project in our existing network, we'll either prioritize finding and onboarding one for you or refer you to another service provider we trust.

Are the teams vetted?

Yes, all teams are thoroughly vetted via a robust multi-week process to ensure they possess the necessary skills, experience, and legal/regulatory compliance. We prioritize quality and reliability in our partnerships. This guarantees that you receive top-notch service for your projects, with teams you can trust.

How do payments work?

Payments are processed through our secure platform, ensuring safety and transparency. We offer flexible payment options to accommodate various project scopes. Rates are agreed upfront in each proposal so you know exactly what you'll pay before a project begins.
